Jeff Bezos has publicly and strongly denied claims that he is planning a $600 million wedding with his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, in Aspen.
The rumors, which started with a report from the Daily Mail and were later picked up by other outlets, said the couple would get married on December 28 in a luxurious ceremony.
The story claimed the event would cost more than half a billion dollars, but Bezos quickly shot down the report.
On Sunday morning, Bezos took to social media platform X to call out the false claims. “This whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening,” Bezos wrote.
He warned people about believing everything they read, especially in today’s world, where false information spreads very quickly. “Lies can get ALL the way around the world before the truth can even get its pants on,” he added, urging people to be careful and avoid being misled.
Bezos also criticized the media outlets that spread the story, asking whether they would correct their mistakes once the wedding date passed without any event.
The Daily Mail report claimed that the wedding would take place on Kevin Costner’s massive 160-acre Dunbar Ranch in Aspen. According to the report, guests would stay in Aspen’s most luxurious accommodations, including the five-star St. Regis Hotel, and Bezos had even arranged private mansions for some attendees.
The story gained more attention when billionaire investor Bill Ackman commented on it. Ackman doubted the possibility of a wedding costing $600 million, saying it seemed unrealistic. “Unless you’re buying each guest a house, you can’t spend that much money,” Ackman wrote.
Bezos’s response makes it clear that the rumors are completely unfounded. Despite the widespread attention, Bezos dismissed the story as nothing more than false gossip.
